Events and Collaborations

Tia Nuru is a member of the Arusha Sustainability Forum Planning Committee, which organizes monthly talks by experts in various fields. Previous talks have been held on topics such as water filtration systems, tree planting, vermiculture, herbal medicines and seeds for nutrition and health.

In May this year, Tia Nuru facilitated a tree planting activity at Meru Primary School, where 32 fruit trees are now thriving. Students looking after the trees are proud and happy about this achievement!

In June 2013, Tia Nuru in collaboration with renowned dancer Anna Bussey, Arusha-based artists and Alliance Franco-Tanzanienne was involved in the production of a dance piece called Waste, which highlighted the problem of accumulation of material goods at a high environmental cost. The event was attended by the general Arusha public.

Prior to this event Tia Nuru collaborated with Alliance Franco-Tanzanienne to organize a performance and workshops in traditional Gogo music conducted by the renowned Tanzanian performer Msafiri Zawose, the purpose of which was to raise awareness and encourage interest in traditional Tanzanian music.

Tia Nuru has conducted training sessions in drawing at Integrity Montessori School in Moivaro, with an aim of promoting the use of the creative arts for self-expression in schools.

In 2012, Tia Nuru in partnership with Safe Water Ceramics East Africa facilitated the acquisition of clay water filters for Naserian School and Orphanage and for the Moivaro Health Center.

In the same year Tia Nuru participated in a Tree Planting Event organized by Mti-Mmoja Mazingira.
